Well red is a showing of fear and communism. Birds can fly and that shows freedom. Maybe its showing that its showing that doodle can fear but He is free to walk and do what he tries.
i think it shows doodle because it was weakk and frail but had ccommitment it came from florida so it overcame hardships but in the end it failed same with doodle
I think that the red bird was a symbol of Doodle, and also that the Scarlet Ibis, like gerry said that it represents the coming of Doodle's death like the frog meant rain. When Doodle burried the bird, his mother told him not to touch it, he has such a caring heart that he din'd want to just lleave it there, so hecame up with a way to burry the bird eithout dissobeying his mother.
In response to Abbey: I think the scarlet ibis represented how Doodle felt. He felt helpless and uncared for. He wanted to bury the animal and care for it just like his brother had done to him.
The bird could posable reprsent something. Most people thought it represented Doodles death. I agree I think that it does kinda represent it. Most of the time in stories authers will use small things to represent something in the story kinda so you can make some type of connection.
Ibis: To much of something. Doodle had to much of swimming and acting on brothers rules so it killed him. He did to much Swimming and running and his body couldnt handle it. Why did Doodle Bleed though?
I think that the main character began the lessons out of shame and embarrasment. but after awhile he realized that it was good for Doodle too, so he continued teaching him out of goodness.
I agree with Gerry, that Doodle does walk backwards and how he is the like the real doodlebug itself. But how can someone walk backwards if they are crippled and cant walk?
because he was embarassed, and even in the beginning he said that he wanted to kill him. Plus it was for Doodle too, he would ratheer have him hurt then embarassed.
I think he pushed his brother so hard because he saw something in him and his brother wanted to protect Doodle. show him how to defend himself so that he would always have to watch out for him.
In resonse to Sarah: yea that was very strange they would lie to there mom and be like flying people and that they both were lying but doodle was better than him.
i think doodle would be kinda hurt inside when his brother wanted him to be "like all the other kids at school". his brother was implieing that he was worse than everyone else. that would be pretty hurtrull i think
i dont think that doodle was killed by the storm i think he died from over exertion like the doctor was saying, but that doesnt explain the blood, so no matter how hard he tried he would be unable to beat his defects
He taught Doodle to walk because he wanted to almost get away from him. Like Abby just said, he didn't want him to be crippled. He has so much pride, that he is ashamed to have a brother that isn;t normal, so he therefore thinks he can't have pride in something that is crippled.
Doodle was better at lieing than brother because Doodle could only dream of what He would want to do because he was crippled. Brother is worse at lieing because he can live his life and cant think of anything better or worse because he has the good end of the rope. Doodle can only imagine about what its like to live the life of a normal human being.
The narrator, thought Brother should not pay attention to his younger crippled brother, Doodle. How was Brother mean to Doodle? What made Brother have cruelty against Doodle.
Why would they lie for fun I guess i don't get why someone would lie just because they wanted to.
In response to Mrs. Comp:
I think that Doodles brother helped his brother because he was somewhat ashamed to have a brother who is crippled. I think Doodles brother wanted to take pride and he didn't want a crippled brother. I think it would be hard to live with a brother that had a disability. Put also in a way you could learn a lot like not to give up and if you really try hard enough then your dreams can come true just like Doodle wanted to learn to walk and he didn't give up.
In response to Mrs. Comp: The narrator probably did struggle with having a crippled brother. I think at first his motivations for Doodle to walk were driven by embarrassment. However, I believe that once Doodle dies he realizes how great of a brother Doodle was and how much determination Doodle is gifted with. He finds a new respect for Doodle and regrets how he treated him.
he is mean to Doodle just as siblings are. He is so cruel to him and taunts him with the things he fears most. he tells him he is going to leave him because he knows that hurts him so much.
i think that the brother is a very good older brother he believed in him when no one did, when doodle smiled he screamed hes all there hes all there just so his parents might strart beliving inhm because then he realized he would be normal
I think he died from running to hard not to be left. He tried to catch up with his brother, that his body couldn't take it. He probably began coughing up blood and stuff and it just went downhill from there
Abby said: "We all have a good and a bad side" This is true in this story cause Doodle brother was maybe a little jelouse of his brother. We all have a "green monster" as some people call it.
By leaving his brother Doodle at the end of the story its showing how the scarlet ibis was left by his flock when the storm blew in. Its the same structure with the bird and doodle. If you break it down it makes alot of sense
Response to Nicole: Yea I think that those things that he did for doodle was building up confidence and a strong relationship too because he was so sad at the end when his brother died.
to zach i think he died from overexertion like the doctor was saying that if he feels too hor to cold or to Scared or Dissapointment he woulddie but thet doesnt explain the blood
After thinking about how the narrator treated Doodle you feel anger towards the narrator. However, how frustrating do you think it would be to have a disabled sibling that follows you everywhere?
Like Britnee said, maybe he was a little jealous. Even though he didn't really like him, and felt bad for him, he realizes that Doodle is lucky in a way to be who he is. He probably feels horrible for being so mean to him when he loses all he had
Yes I agree with Pat his brother really did believe in him even though he was the only one and I believe that as the story went on that is when the rest of the family started to believe in him.
Love and Cruelty can coexist because to be cruel is to show emotion on someone in particular. To love is to show emotion on someone in particular. In some cases, being cruel to someone is showing that you know them well enough to bring that much emotion to a person or animal.
i dont think that envy had anything to do with this story r doodle may of wanted to do the stuff his brother did and hung out with him so he could in a roundabout way but at the same time he had to do this on his own and wouldnt want to steal the gift of his brother
In a response to Mrs. Comp's post, Doodle's brother helped Doodle out because Brother was disappointed with Doodle who has been crippled the rest of his life. This made think that Brother took a stride and not have someone crippled like his brother. A question I had was; how would would Doodle's brother feel if Doodle wasn't crippled? Would he spend more time with Doodle and have fun with him?
to what William P. said "how hard would it be to have a disabled sibling that follows you every were' i would say it could be good and bad cause you never would have time alone always taking care of him/her
I think that love and hate can coexsist. My best friend and I totally have a love hate relationship. We fight all the time just like siters, but at the end of the day we know we love eachother.
In response to Mrs. Comp: The narrator did not kill Doodle. He didn't intentinally murder Doodle. However, he did leave Doodle out in the cold rain which lead to his death. The narrator didn't want Doodle to die, though.
to respond to beau.... i think time alone is a nice thing. i think it would get annoying have him following casue u could never have alone time with friends or by yourself
I had this question on my sheet and in a way it was his pride that got in his way and that is what stopped him from going back. but in the same way he new when he didn't hear Doodle yelling back that doodle was down. Also when you have younger bro's or sis' then you know most of them worship the ground you walk on. so Doodle tried hard to impress the narrator
As to what William said it really is actually hard to have a disabled sibling because when you are scared for them or you are the only person who takes care of them it can kind of get depressing.
i think if he went back for doodle then he would never ger better, i think that he would start relyin gon his brother again and not do anything on his own anymore
I disagree with Kevin and my question to Kevin is that; How was Doodle's brother mentally sorry for almost killing his brother and how would the brother of Doodle feel if Doodle was not crippled and did the same to his brother?
I think expectation from other people are a good thing and you try to please those people and try to reach those expectations and the goals that you set for yourself.........................................
I think that he would have died, because like Laura said, it wasn't Doodle's fault, nor the birds, but the people that were supposed to be lifting him up. His brother especially, he was the one who told him to keep running even when he knew he couldn't do it. All throughout the end of the story they began telling how he began to take a turn for the worst, growing weaker and weaker with every day.
In response to jerry G i don't think doodle would have died if the scarlet ibis didn't come. Because doodle thought of himself when he saw it so he pushed himself to hard so he wouldn't die. But in reality he did died because of pushing him self to hard.
Yes like Nikki said he had the chance to save him but he didn't.
How did Doodle die? asked Sara
He died because he pushed himself to hard is this his brothers falt did Doodle feel like he had to high of expectations to live up to did Doodle push himself to hard? What do you think? Did Doodles brother push him so hard because he loved him?
It depends if other peoples expectations are good or not. They are good if you sell yourself short then you need somebody else to step in and help you realize what you are good at. If you do that by your self than others are bad and you should live by our own.
i think that doodle was at fault, that is mean but he surrendered his brother waas trying to help himn through it but in the end it was up to doodle, his brother was just being unsensitive, if they let him falter and helped doodle home he wouldnt learn anything and he would rely on his brother forever
In response to Josh: The narrator probably wouldn't spend as much time with Doodle if he wasn't crippled. My reason is because the narrator is forced to play with Doodle all the time; however, if Doodle wasn't crippled he would only play with him out of will.
"The narrator talks about the "Clove of Seasons". He means that it is divided into sections like the clove of garlic. This quote shows that autumn, spring, and summer is happiness but then later on in winter and fall result into death. So why would the Clove of Seasons affect the way the bird died to Doodle's death.
I think that doodle is so entranced by the bird because they were so alike. he died the same way that Doodle did, and when Doodle buried the bird he was showing him the respect that he deserved.
i think the bird and doodle were really alike just like Gary said how they both died the same way because they both did not have ways to have engery to keep moving.
In response to Beau I think the narrator really does care that he really does care about what happened to Doodle because he eventually went back for him.
I agree with Gerry: The bird did die in a similar way to Doodle. They both had red on them, they both died under a bush, they both died in a storm, and many more similarities.
In response to Ms.Comp: I thought when I read about the bird that it was kinda symbolic and it shows that doodle was going to tell it was as if the author was trying to tell you what was going to happened to doodle.
I agree with Michael on what Ms. Comp's response was because expectations for your role models you can hate or not like them. But going back and thinking about that how that your siblings could change your or their expectations?
The point of this story is to treasure the ones we love. Even if we don't really know it, we will miss them if we lose them. We don't really realize what we have, untill were forced to realize how much they meant to us. When we lose them, we realize what an impact they had on us.
I guess this topic and book kinda remind me of Forest Gump in a couple ways. The birds death is just like Doodles death. Gerry said this was because both ran out of energy and feel. Mrs. Comp said both were out of their elements. The Ibis was red and after doodle feel he was coverd in blood. Both legs were fragile and both died because of a storm both were out of their cofort zone.
What is the point of the story?
Nikki thought Doodle represents his brother when he dies and the bird represents Doodle when he dies. I agree the bird represents the bird cause they are the same and Doodle represents his brother.
he was impacted so much by doodle that he could never forget him. When Doodle left, so did the narrator's pride. As he said that Doodle was his thing to be proud of, and so when he screwed up, he was allso affected by the loss of Doodle personally, other then the fact that its his brother.
In response to Mrs. Comp: In the passage of time lots of realization happens. When Doodle dies that is when the brother realizes how he felt about Doodle. In the passage of time many things change and when you look at the past you see that the things in the past sshape who you are today.
In my response right now too Hannah, the point of view or overall theme in this story is to have your love for someone like a sibling can make you get all depressed. But how does Doodle's family relate to the family of Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol, when Tim died from being crippled?
i like the reference too doodles name, "it was the best thing i evergave him, he thought that people believing in him was more importat then walking and i think that it did help him get through liife
The passage of time can really affect you? Abby brought up the Christmas carol. He goes back in time and finds out how nice he used to be and he wanted to change back because he didn't want to be hatted.
the scarlet ibis represents doodle
ReplyDeleteI was also wondering about that bird it was pretty strange.
ReplyDeleteMy reaction to Abby's comment about the bird made me think how is the bird a symbol?
ReplyDeletescarlet ibisci thought meant death
ReplyDeleteFrom Abby's question I also wanted to know what does the red bird represents.
ReplyDeletei agree with David it was weird
ReplyDeleteHow and why does the bird mean death?
ReplyDeleteWell red is a showing of fear and communism. Birds can fly and that shows freedom. Maybe its showing that its showing that doodle can fear but He is free to walk and do what he tries.
ReplyDeleteHow did it reprsent Doodle's death?
ReplyDelete? no isn't scarlet ibis the main character? and yea that bird could of been a sign of death.
ReplyDeleteI think the red bird represented Doodle. I like what Jery said it represented death.
ReplyDeleteIn response to Abby's question: i don't think that it really is a symbol more than an omen....
ReplyDeleteI think the beard was a hint for what was going to happen to doodle
ReplyDeletei think it shows doodle because it was weakk and frail but had ccommitment it came from florida so it overcame hardships but in the end it failed same with doodle
ReplyDeletewhy is doodle so moved by the ibis?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering why he cared for the Ibis and why it died?
ReplyDeletei thought the ibis represented the journy the doodle had made
ReplyDeleteWhen the bird dies It is showing that death is fear and that it was free like doodle to walk and swim but and he shouldnt fear what happens in life.
ReplyDeletei think doodle was just told he would fail at doing anything and only his brothere vbelived in him
ReplyDeleteHow is the bird;s description very much like Doodle?
ReplyDeletei think doodle is moved by ibis because it was like him
ReplyDeleteI think that the red bird was a symbol of Doodle, and also that the Scarlet Ibis, like gerry said that it represents the coming of Doodle's death like the frog meant rain. When Doodle burried the bird, his mother told him not to touch it, he has such a caring heart that he din'd want to just lleave it there, so hecame up with a way to burry the bird eithout dissobeying his mother.
ReplyDeleteI think he cared for the ibus because he related to its frail state
ReplyDeleteIn response to Abbey:
ReplyDeleteI think the scarlet ibis represented how Doodle felt. He felt helpless and uncared for. He wanted to bury the animal and care for it just like his brother had done to him.
I thought doodle needed to walk but it wasn't key it could have just been a way for his brother to have doodle as a stronger person.
ReplyDeleteI like what Gerry said as how nobody thought that he could but in the end was able to.
ReplyDeleteThe red bird represent something?
ReplyDeleteThe bird could posable reprsent something. Most people thought it represented Doodles death. I agree I think that it does kinda represent it. Most of the time in stories authers will use small things to represent something in the story kinda so you can make some type of connection.
i think the bird was like Doodle because it died and i think the bird was disabled.
ReplyDeleteI thought the brother kinda pushed doodle to hard
ReplyDeleteI think that Doodles physical state did change if he could walk.Because it is if he wants to be walking again.
ReplyDeleteIbis: To much of something.
ReplyDeleteDoodle had to much of swimming and acting on brothers rules so it killed him. He did to much Swimming and running and his body couldnt handle it. Why did Doodle Bleed though?
in response to all. when he was four or three the book said he was talking
ReplyDeleteI think that the main character began the lessons out of shame and embarrasment. but after awhile he realized that it was good for Doodle too, so he continued teaching him out of goodness.
ReplyDeleteI was also wondering how could he care for the libs and i understand it repersents his life
ReplyDeleteI liked the comment of Gerry...... what is a doodle bug?
ReplyDeletei think that the brother wanted doodle to live a full life thats why he tried and pushed him o his breaking point
ReplyDeleteDoodle bugs sound very interesting those creepy bugs.
ReplyDeleteI like what Nikki said: why did the brother push so hard?
ReplyDeletehe wanted doodle to live a full life to be ableto go to school and get friends
ReplyDeleteI liked how how the brother pushed him hard and wanted him to learn. I also think it was good that he pushed his brother and made him learn.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Gerry, that Doodle does walk backwards and how he is the like the real doodlebug itself. But how can someone walk backwards if they are crippled and cant walk?
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think that Doodle felt when his brother kept on forcing him to walk?
ReplyDeletehe cared for tthe ibis cause he is a nice, kind child.. beau....
ReplyDeleteI thought he pushed doodle to hard because he was making him reliable on himself
ReplyDeleteThe narrator talk a lot about his own individual pride when it came to Doodle-what does this mean?
ReplyDeleteHe wanted Doodle to walk not having a brother that could walk would probably make embarissed
ReplyDeleteNikki's question: Its because he had so much pride that he didn't want him to fail or he was going to be embarassed
ReplyDeletebecause he was embarassed, and even in the beginning he said that he wanted to kill him. Plus it was for Doodle too, he would ratheer have him hurt then embarassed.
ReplyDeletethey werent lying they were telling eachothere extravagent stories
ReplyDeleteI think going along with Pat is that his brother wanted him to be able to defend him self and not get picked on.
ReplyDeleteI didnt get why they were lying for fun
ReplyDeleteIn response to Nikki?
ReplyDeleteI think he pushed his brother so hard because he saw something in him and his brother wanted to protect Doodle. show him how to defend himself so that he would always have to watch out for him.
In resonse to Sarah: yea that was very strange they would lie to there mom and be like flying people and that they both were lying but doodle was better than him.
ReplyDeleteHow does Doodle and the Scralet ibis relate?
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't Doodle speak up?
ReplyDeleteI think he had pride in his brother because he was like a teacher and he taught him to do important things like walk and talk...
ReplyDeleteNikki said that "doodle
ReplyDeletehad an imaginative friend.
so it helped him in response to streching the truth
ReplyDeletestretching
ReplyDeletei think doodle would be kinda hurt inside when his brother wanted him to be "like all the other kids at school". his brother was implieing that he was worse than everyone else. that would be pretty hurtrull i think
ReplyDeleteThey were lying because he did not want his parents to know. I don't think it was for fun.
ReplyDeletei think that the reason doodle was better at lyingwas because he was ubnable to do much so he put more effort into most things
ReplyDeleteThe scarlet ibis is a tropical bird and it died in the same way doodle died. A storm blew it off course and hurt it. The same way doodle died.
ReplyDeleteI always thought that the lies they told they actually meant they told each other stories.
ReplyDeleteDoodle's brother pushed him too hard because trying to have Doodle set a countability to rely on himself.
ReplyDeleteHe took on a fatherly figure with doodle
ReplyDeleteAlso it was a confusion to me how Brother taught Doodle how to walk if he didn't really pay enough attention to him.
ReplyDeleteDid Doodle die? Or was he just hurt badly?
ReplyDeletei think he died cause at the end of the storyy it refered to doodle as his scarlet ibis.. and the scarlet ibis died
ReplyDeleteHe is kinda jerkish
ReplyDeleteHe talks a lot about his pride for his brother and how he was going to do it no matter what to help
ReplyDeletei dont think that doodle was killed by the storm i think he died from over exertion like the doctor was saying, but that doesnt explain the blood, so no matter how hard he tried he would be unable to beat his defects
ReplyDeleteto response to ms. Comp
ReplyDeletedoodles brother pride was that he felt accomplished because he didnt want a crippled brother
i think he wanted him to be on his own.And was ashamed to have a brother that was crippled.
ReplyDeleteTowards the end of the story was the brother ashamed to have a crippled brother?
ReplyDeleteHe taught Doodle to walk because he wanted to almost get away from him. Like Abby just said, he didn't want him to be crippled. He has so much pride, that he is ashamed to have a brother that isn;t normal, so he therefore thinks he can't have pride in something that is crippled.
ReplyDeleteDoodle was better at lieing than brother because Doodle could only dream of what He would want to do because he was crippled. Brother is worse at lieing because he can live his life and cant think of anything better or worse because he has the good end of the rope. Doodle can only imagine about what its like to live the life of a normal human being.
ReplyDeleteyes he was because he just fallowedhim.
ReplyDeleteno he wanted his brother to be a playmate with him, he wanted doodle to keep up or surpass him in anthing
ReplyDeleteyes i would think he was ashamed. i belive so because he ended up ditching him in the storm becaause he didnt learn to be "normaal"
ReplyDeleteI think he had good intention because he needed to teach him to do all the things, so he could live on his own. I think Doodle wanted to learn also.
ReplyDeleteAren't there always times where siblings are mean to each other? So that is really not uncommon in my mind.
ReplyDeleteThe narrator, thought Brother should not pay attention to his younger crippled brother, Doodle. How was Brother mean to Doodle? What made Brother have cruelty against Doodle.
ReplyDeletewhere was the climax someone should reply
ReplyDeleteWhy would they lie for fun I guess i don't get why someone would lie just because they wanted to.
ReplyDeleteIn response to Mrs.
Doodle was scared.
ReplyDeletei think that he left doodle behind to teach him t not to give in to fear and to push his limits
ReplyDeleteIn response to Mrs. Comp:
ReplyDeleteThe narrator probably did struggle with having a crippled brother. I think at first his motivations for Doodle to walk were driven by embarrassment. However, I believe that once Doodle dies he realizes how great of a brother Doodle was and how much determination Doodle is gifted with. He finds a new respect for Doodle and regrets how he treated him.
Like what Michael L. when he said " that he felt accomplished he didn't want a cripple brother" i totally agree with that cause thats just cruel
ReplyDeleteI agree with Pat
ReplyDeletehe is mean to Doodle just as siblings are. He is so cruel to him and taunts him with the things he fears most. he tells him he is going to leave him because he knows that hurts him so much.
ReplyDeleteHow do you think Doodle died?
ReplyDeleteCan love and cruelty coexist?
ReplyDeletein response to pat....no i think it was more that he was mad doodle failed on his tasks
ReplyDeleteTo respond to Josh the brother was mean to his brother in the part that Mrs.Comp just read to us. I think.
ReplyDeleteI think the brother i trying to make his brother tougher. Also how to live in the real world because he didn't want him around all the time.
ReplyDeleteYes i agree with Pat, he wanted him to be his own man not being scared.
ReplyDeletei think that the brother is a very good older brother he believed in him when no one did, when doodle smiled he screamed hes all there hes all there just so his parents might strart beliving inhm because then he realized he would be normal
ReplyDeletewhy would you chose to be mean to someone in this case Doodle. I also think its from his disability and him getting all the attention.
ReplyDeleteI think he died from running to hard not to be left. He tried to catch up with his brother, that his body couldn't take it. He probably began coughing up blood and stuff and it just went downhill from there
ReplyDeleteAbby said:
ReplyDelete"We all have a good and a bad side"
This is true in this story cause Doodle brother was maybe a little jelouse of his brother. We all have a "green monster" as some people call it.
Do yu judge the narrator for his pride as much as he judges himself?
ReplyDeleteI think Doodle died because of over exaustion or some sort of other problem
ReplyDeleteI agree with Zach that the narrator was sad for his brother, but at the same time jealous.
ReplyDeleteBy leaving his brother Doodle at the end of the story its showing how the scarlet ibis was left by his flock when the storm blew in. Its the same structure with the bird and doodle. If you break it down it makes alot of sense
ReplyDeleteResponse to Nicole: Yea I think that those things that he did for doodle was building up confidence and a strong relationship too because he was so sad at the end when his brother died.
ReplyDeleteto what ms. comp said 'can love and cruelty coexist" i would have to say yes because you can love something and still treat it cruelty
ReplyDeleteTo ms comp can you rephrase your question please.
ReplyDeleteto zach i think he died from overexertion like the doctor was saying that if he feels too hor to cold or to Scared or Dissapointment he woulddie but thet doesnt explain the blood
ReplyDeleteAfter thinking about how the narrator treated Doodle you feel anger towards the narrator. However, how frustrating do you think it would be to have a disabled sibling that follows you everywhere?
ReplyDeleteWhat is Scarlet Ibis?
ReplyDeleteMaybe by leaving his brother he felt that he could let doodle go on his own. Maybe Brother thought doodle could do anything on his own now.
ReplyDeleteLike Britnee said, maybe he was a little jealous. Even though he didn't really like him, and felt bad for him, he realizes that Doodle is lucky in a way to be who he is. He probably feels horrible for being so mean to him when he loses all he had
ReplyDeleteIn response to JComps post they can but in a very distracting way. Out of love you can have cruelty but that kinda remains an oxymoron
ReplyDeleteI dont think they can coexist because if you HATE something or someone you cant really love them........
ReplyDeleteYes I agree with Pat his brother really did believe in him even though he was the only one and I believe that as the story went on that is when the rest of the family started to believe in him.
ReplyDeleteIs the narrator to blame for what happened to Doodle?
ReplyDeleteDid Doodles brothers feeling change toward the end of the story?
ReplyDeleteYes they definitly did I think because after he saw how much his brother could do he began to have a sense of pride in him.
Can love and cruelty be the same?
Abby thinks that it is naturely and sometimes we act out of cruelty because we love them.
I think love and cruelty can coexist. Because its like when you have a crush on a girl when you little your mean to them
ReplyDeleteLove and Cruelty can coexist because to be cruel is to show emotion on someone in particular. To love is to show emotion on someone in particular. In some cases, being cruel to someone is showing that you know them well enough to bring that much emotion to a person or animal.
ReplyDeletei dont think that envy had anything to do with this story

This made think that Brother took a stride and not have someone crippled like his brother. A question I had was; how would would Doodle's brother feel if Doodle wasn't crippled? Would he spend more time with Doodle and have fun with him?
ReplyDeletei would say no. but it could have mentaly killed doodle but its not his fault
ReplyDeleteI think that they can coincide because out of love comes hate.
ReplyDeleteto what William P. said "how hard would it be to have a disabled sibling that follows you every were' i would say it could be good and bad cause you never would have time alone always taking care of him/her
ReplyDeleteI think that love and hate can coexsist. My best friend and I totally have a love hate relationship. We fight all the time just like siters, but at the end of the day we know we love eachother.
ReplyDeleteI think the narrator is at fault for doodles death because he pushed him to hard.he should of went back and helped instead of keep on running.
ReplyDeletelove and cruelty can coexist, you must love someone to be able to help them and in many instances the only way to help is to be cruel
ReplyDeleteLove and cruelty can coexist beacuse goiung back to what Micheal said when you love some one you have to be mean its called tough love.
ReplyDeleteIn response to Mrs. Comp:
ReplyDeleteThe narrator did not kill Doodle. He didn't intentinally murder Doodle. However, he did leave Doodle out in the cold rain which lead to his death. The narrator didn't want Doodle to die, though.

ReplyDeletei agree with michael. ii think the narriator is most at fault
ReplyDeleteI think expectation from other people are a good thing and you try to please those people and try to reach those expectations and the goals that you set for yourself.........................................
ReplyDeletejosh could you restate yourr question in a way i could understand please
ReplyDeleteAbby: I think that his throat started bleeding when he kept pushing himself
ReplyDeleteI think that he would have died, because like Laura said, it wasn't Doodle's fault, nor the birds, but the people that were supposed to be lifting him up. ReplyDeleteYes like Nikki said he had the chance to save him but he didn't.
How did Doodle die? asked Sara
He died because he pushed himself to hard is this his brothers falt did Doodle feel like he had to high of expectations to live up to did Doodle push himself to hard? What do you think? Did Doodles brother push him so hard because he loved him?
With what jessie said we should live on our own because we all have to take care of ourself sooner or later and it is imoprtant so we can help others.
ReplyDeleteIt depends if other peoples expectations are good or not. They are good if you sell yourself short then you need somebody else to step in and help you realize what you are good at. If you do that by your self than others are bad and you should live by our own.
ReplyDeleteI think he pushed himself so hard he coughed up blood and his lungs sort of shut down
ReplyDeletei agree with tanner. expectations are good... but only up to a certain point though.. to much can turn out very bad
ReplyDeleteIs the bleeding tree a symbol
ReplyDeletei think that doodle was at fault, that is mean but he surrendered his brother waas trying to help himn through it but in the end it was up to doodle, his brother was just being unsensitive, if they let him falter and helped doodle home he wouldnt learn anything and he would rely on his brother forever
ReplyDeleteIn response to Josh:
ReplyDeleteThe narrator probably wouldn't spend as much time with Doodle if he wasn't crippled. My reason is because the narrator is forced to play with Doodle all the time; however, if Doodle wasn't crippled he would only play with him out of will.
the narrator says this as if it really dosent matter for what happened to doodle i think?
ReplyDeleteI think that the bleeding treee is also significant.
ReplyDeleteI think it was a symbol e that he died in the fall/winter because fall/winter is kindof like death and cold and scary........................
ReplyDeleteIn response to Hannah I think he was pushing him self to hard.

ReplyDelete"The narrator talks about the "Clove of Seasons". He means that it is divided into sections like the clove of garlic. This quote shows that autumn, spring, and summer is happiness but then later on in winter and fall result into death. So why would the Clove of Seasons affect the way the bird died to Doodle's death.
ReplyDeleteto hannah how would he cough up blood, wouldnt he require to have a ruptured lung or somthing
ReplyDeleteBut tanner what does that have to do with the bleeding tree?
ReplyDeleteI think that doodle is so entranced by the bird because they were so alike. he died the same way that Doodle did, and when Doodle buried the bird he was showing him the respect that he deserved.
ReplyDeleteyes agreeing with tanner the death could have symboled how winter/fall is death
ReplyDeletein response to ms comp i think expectations by other people are good. this is because without expectations there are no challenge no drive.
ReplyDeleteThe ibis tried so hard to get wher he wanted to be, as did Doodle, and they both died trying.
ReplyDeletei think the bird and doodle were really alike just like Gary said how they both died the same way because they both did not have ways to have engery to keep moving.
ReplyDeleteIn response to Beau I think the narrator really does care that he really does care about what happened to Doodle because he eventually went back for him.
ReplyDeleteIs doodle and the scarlet bird some how connected on an emotional or physical level
ReplyDeleteI agree with Gerry:
ReplyDeleteThe bird did die in a similar way to Doodle. They both had red on them, they both died under a bush, they both died in a storm, and many more similarities.
At least doodle died trying hard.
ReplyDeleteto william i think that he was wanted to hang out with doodle, i think he chose to do it, not if it was a chore
ReplyDeleteEverything Ms Comp is saying about doodles death and The Ibis's death are related I already said that like 10 minutes ago! thats Plaigerism Ms Comp!
ReplyDeleteI dont get how he could take the bird and relate it back to his life and react right away
ReplyDeleteFunny Zach
ReplyDeleteIn response to Ms.Comp: I thought when I read about the bird that it was kinda symbolic and it shows that doodle was going to tell it was as if the author was trying to tell you what was going to happened to doodle.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Michael at least Doodle was trying.
ReplyDeleteHow might the passage of time change people and their feelings about past events?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nicki that the brother represents Doodle when Doodle dies. Just like
ReplyDeletewhen Doodle cared for the dead bird.
I agree with Michael on what Ms. Comp's response was because expectations for your role models you can hate or not like them. But going back and thinking about that how that your siblings could change your or their expectations?
ReplyDeleteFor what Rebekah posted i think they do because how they both died the same way and they couldnt keep moveing.
ReplyDeleteThis is replying on Michael.
ReplyDeleteHe didnt die tring hard. Back up your statement if you think He died trying hard
The point of this story is to treasure the ones we love. Even if we don't really know it, we will miss them if we lose them. We don't really realize what we have, untill were forced to realize how much they meant to us. When we lose them, we realize what an impact they had on us.
ReplyDeleteHow is the bird like Doodle?
ReplyDeleteI guess this topic and book kinda remind me of Forest Gump in a couple ways.
Foreshadowing, Flashback.
ReplyDeletei think he felt guilty and tried to somehow feel closure
ReplyDeletei think its better to die trying than to live thinking you cant
ReplyDeleteI think the message of the story was that when things get hard keep trying. so live hard or die trying.
ReplyDeletealso when doodle was bornhis head was red
ReplyDeleteI agree with Hannah we don't realize what we have until it is gone.
ReplyDeleteHe was still upset with himself so he didn't want to think about it anymore so he ended it where he felt closure
ReplyDeletei agree with hannah. we should enjoy what we have and we shouldnt be greedy and try to get more
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kevin it is better to die trying that thinking you could have helped but did'nt.
ReplyDeleteDo you think doodle died on purpose?
ReplyDeleteI thought Doodle was Blue when He was born?
ReplyDeletehe was impacted so much by doodle that he could never forget him. When Doodle left, so did the narrator's pride. As he said that Doodle was his thing to be proud of, and so when he screwed up, he was allso affected by the loss of Doodle personally, other then the fact that its his brother.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kevin that it is better to try then live life being affraid of everything.
ReplyDeleteIn response to Mrs. Comp:
ReplyDeleteIn the passage of time lots of realization happens.
ReplyDeletei like what gabe said about die trying instead of doing nothing and die doing what you love
ReplyDeletei like the reference too doodles name, "it was the best thing i evergave him, he thought that people believing in him was more importat then walking and i think that it did help him get through liife
ReplyDeleteReminds me of secret garden
ReplyDeleteThe passage of time can really affect you?
ReplyDeleteAbby brought up the Christmas carol. He goes back in time and finds out how nice he used to be and he wanted to change back because he didn't want to be hatted.
